3. Collection and use of your data
Type, scope and use of your data differ depending on whether you use our internet presence merely for the retrieval of information or if you use any services we offer:
a) Informational use
It is not necessary for you to submit any personal data when simply using our internet presence for informational use only. In this case we only collect and use data that your internet browser transmits automatically, such as:
- Date and time one of our web pages was accessed
- Your browser type
- Browser settings
- Operating system used
- The last page you visited
- Data volume transferred and access status (e.g. file transmitted, file not found)
- Your IP address
We collect and use exclusively non-personal information from the informational use of our website. This is necessary to even make it possible for you to use the web pages you have visited, as well as for statistical purposes and to improve our internet service. The IP address is only saved for the duration of your visit; a personal evaluation does not take place.
b) Use of services
However, insofar as you make use of any services offered on our website, such as ordering a newsletter or demo, it is necessary for you to submit further information. We only collect data that is necessary to complete the transaction, such as your email address and name so that we can send the newsletter to you by email. Further information may be submitted voluntarily, which is indicated accordingly. The collection and use of your data serves the purpose of providing the services you have requested, i.e. to send you the newsletter or a customized demo you have requested. For the aforementioned purpose your data might be passed on to external service providers that support us and have been carefully selected. They might be technical service providers. Apart from that, the transfer of your data to third parties only takes place when we are obligated to do so by law.
In order to be able to register for our email newsletter service, we need your consent under data protection laws, as well as at least your email address, to which the newsletter should be sent. Possible further particulars are optional and are used to address you personally and to personalize the content of the newsletter and clarify any inquiries as to the email address.
We usually use the so-called double opt-in process for sending the newsletter. This means that we cannot send you the newsletter unless you have confirmed your registration by clicking the link in your confirmation email. This way we want to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time, either by sending us an informal e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by canceling via the link provided for this purpose at the end of the relevant newsletter.
